May 2021 News

"Mancunian techno expert Andrew Odia presents the fourth part of his Caution!Horses series. The "MoveSweatLove EP" carries on the producer's re-calibration of UK and Detroit techno stylings under his own unique canvas of hardware, DSP and recording mediums.

Presented as a super limited CD-r release, three extended tracks begin with "Searching for Answers", a somewhat discordant and churning beast, slowly emerging from beneath some long redundant tectonic fault and only surfacing for the first time in a hundred generations.

"MSL" sees crumbling synthlines and frazzled pads converge on an at once melancholic and redolent centre; the various synth patches constantly evolving throughout indicative of holographic discourse with the subject.

Finally, "Stars on Knowsley Street" is the late night, tribal-tinged Detroit / UK techno hybrid you've been patiently waiting for. Recalling the deeper and darker moments of the U.R. catalogue whilst being decidedly battle-ready for a Juan Atkins / Derrick May DJ set, it also confidently possesses that unique, hi-def, Caution!Horses aesthetic; somehow executed with cleaner lines and more defined edges than its Detroit counterpart. It's another winner from the local lad and we've only got a few copies..."

March 2021 News

"Hypnotic and repetitious bleeps and bounces reminiscent of early Yellow Magic Orchestra, but danceable..."
Jumbo, Leeds

"Expect unhinged twisted electronic funk with heavy nods to Detroit..."
Vinyl Exchange, Manchester

Dear people,

Hope you're all well.

The above are excerpts taken from reviews at the time of BYO3's first release in 2018. This second time around, it's available from music purveyor Kanabanana, Kyoto, and they've now been joined by the illustrious Gramaphone Records in Chicago, USA. Caution!Horses the only techno CDr on their site other than Ceephax Acid Crew so rarefied company indeed. Big thanks to Michael Serafini...

Continuing stateside, over in New York on Tim Sweeney's long-running "Beats In Space" radio program, BYO1 got airplay from guest mixer Paula Tape. Listen to the full mix HERE. Thanks to Neil "El Diablo's" for the pointer...

I'm recycling the Christmas 2020 mix I did a couple of months ago for a Nottingham radio station - listen to the rebranded Easter 2021 mix HERE. Strangely, it sounds even more Easter-y than Christmas-y...

"Waiting For You (In The Magic Soundgarden)" tracks are all mixed and ready to go, these final four versions being the follow up to the currently circulating BYO3. News about these and the previously completed new C!H album coming soon...

Soundclips, interviews and more elsewhere on this site.

Happy listening.
